Global sales of motion control products grew by 9% in 2014

04 March, 2015

Global shipments of motion control products grew by 9% in 2014 to exceed $3bn, according to figures released by the Motion Control Association (MCA). But the MCA’s most recent survey of motion control manufacturers reveals that 72% of them believe that shipments of motion control products will remain flat in the first half of 2015, with just 27% expecting the market to expand further, and 1% forecasting a decline.

“We saw each statistical category – save support and services – grow in 2014,” says Alex Shikany, the director of market analysis at the US-based trade group. “Motion controllers remained the hottest product category, growing 34% to $152m in 2014, while actuators and mechanical systems also had a strong year, increasing 12% to $467m. Some other notable growth rates were sensors and feedback devices at 11% to $116m, and AC drives at 10% to $365m.”

The MCA is a global, not-for-profit trade group dedicated to promoting the understanding and use of motion control technologies and developing business opportunities for mechanical and electronic motion control companies.
