Academics and industry join forces to bridge the skills gap

05 April, 2021

While this group has many objectives, the key ones are not only to provide strategic direction to the activities involving universities and industry, but to also complement and enrich established university and industry partnerships. It will be the duty of the group to decide where collaborative lobbying on policies can take advantage of Gambica’s established channels into Government and keep academia and industry in touch with topical government imperatives in areas such as energy, the environment, digitalisation, Stem and apprenticeships.

There has already been a great deal of interest shown by both academics and industry in ways in which we can enhance these relationships in the future. Gambica believes that by liaising with other relevant internal groups and with external organisations on matters of common interest or concern, we can help to upskill our future workforce.

Our call to action this month is for any corporation or university that is interested in the activities I’ve mentioned above to get in touch with us to find out how you could join and access to this incredible initiative. We are planning to hold a second event later this year, and while we may still keep it virtual, the idea is to present the scope and outcomes of our workstreams and have presentations from both external and group members.
