Embedded IPCs will help to push sales over $2bn

12 February, 2008

The global market for industrial PCs (IPCs) will be worth more than $2bn by 2011, predicts the market analyst IMS Research in a new report. The fastest-growing segment will be embedded box and panel PCs, which will be worth more than $400m by 2011.

According to IMS, machine-builders and end-users are increasingly preferring to use embedded rather than standard IPCs, because of their size, reliability and improving performance.

European users are particularly keen on embedded IPCs and account for more than half of global sales of these systems. IMS analyst Mark Watson expects European sales of embedded IPC to grow by 60% over the coming five years, compared to 43% for the total IPC market.
