Multi-axis servodrive will simplify machine building

Lenze has launched a servodrive for multi-axis applications which, it says, will make it simpler to design, build and commission machines, as well as saving space. Initially, the i700 drive will come in one- and two-axis modules covering ratings from 0.37–15kW and supporting motors from standard three-phase to synchronous servo types.

Together with Lenze’s 3200C controller, the new drive (above) is intended to form the heart of centralised machine control systems, linked to other components via EtherCat. It can be engineered via a single interface. Parameters and firmware can be downloaded automatically for fast commissioning of the drive, which incorporates autotuning functions.

The drives offer: short cycle times (250µs for positional control); 32-bit signal resolution; and overload capacities of more than 200%. They are available with various mounting and cooling options, including panel mounting and cold-plate cooling.

The drives’ power supply modules incorporate a braking chopper and do not usually need filtering or DC fusing. Cable-free electrical connections between the drives are achieved using a rail system.

Safe torque-off comes as standard, and future variants will offer enhanced safety functions to SIL3 / Pl e over EtherCat.
