New HQ doubles distributor’s floor space

04 February, 2013

Acorn Industrial Services, the Rotherham-based distributor of power transmission products and linear systems, has relocated its three warehouses into a single 3,700m2 distribution centre at Hellaby.

The company’s 80-strong team worked around the clock over the Christmas break to move more than a million stocked items, as well as their offices, ready for business in the New Year.

The consolidation of the three sites under one roof will allow Acorn to offer longer opening hours and a wider choice of products and services.

“We’re absolutely delighted with the new premises,” says Martin Povey, the company’s financial director. “Acorn are now more conveniently located for national and international distribution channels, enabling us to fulfil orders even more effectively and doubling our space will literally open the door to further growth, increases in stock lines and more new jobs for local people.”

Acorn, which has been in business for 30 years, is a wholesale distributor of bearings, power transmission products, linear motion systems and maintenance equipment. It has grown every year for the past ten years and reported a turnover of £17.4m in the year to 31 December 2011, up from £14.3m the previous year.
