Rockwell buys Pavilion to boost its process portfolio
Published:  25 October, 2007

Rockwell Automation is buying the Texas-based process software developer, Pavilion Technologies, which specialises in advanced process control, production optimisation and environmental compliance systems, for the process and hybrid batch-process industries. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Privately owned Pavilion, which has offices in Belgium, China, Singapore and New Zealand, serves customers in the consumer products, oil and gas, chemical, and other process industries. It will join Rockwell`s Architecture & Software business, and its software products will be integrated with Rockwell’s FactoryTalk production management and performance suite, and Logix control platform.

"This acquisition continues our investment in the process automation business and expands our capabilities to serve this major global market more completely," says Steve Eisenbrown, senior vice-president of the A&S business. "Combining Pavilion Technologies` predictive modelling capabilities with the already-robust ability of our Integrated Architecture to control process applications will help our customers create a more agile, efficient and consistent production environment. That translates into faster response to market demands, at lower cost, with better quality."

"This acquisition represents another key milestone in the expansion of our FactoryTalk integrated production and performance management software suite," adds Rockwell Software vice-president, Kevin Roach. "Their commitment to delivering the highest ROI in the industry has helped Pavilion Technologies pioneer a customer engagement methodology, built on providing predictable results."

Pavilion’s predictive model-based software is designed to help production processes to respond quickly to market demands, to cut costs, to hit quality targets and to enhance environmental quality. Pavilion is the leading supplier of control software to the US ethanol industry, and its customers include Nova Chemicals, Nestle, SABIC Europe, and Total Petrochemicals.
