Eaton invests £3.8m in Worksop switch plant

01 November, 2013

Eaton has invested more than £3.8m in its Worksop site in the UK where it manufactures rotary cam switches and switch disconnectors. The investment has increased the plant’s capacity to meet the growing global demand for the company’s switches.

The 10,000m2 site, which has almost 200 employees, is Eaton’s global production centre for rotary cam switches in ratings up to 100A and rotary switch disconnectors, also in ratings up to 100A.

The investment to date includes new injection moulding plant and ancillaries such as compressors and materials-handling systems, automatic assembly equipment, a new automated test facility for finished switches, and robotic palletisers.

In specifying the new equipment, Eaton has paid particular attention to minimising energy use and the environmental impact of its switch manufacturing operations. For example, high-efficiency motors, fitted with variable speed drives where appropriate, are used throughout the new plant.
