AUTOMATION FOR MANUFACTURING

High-end six-axis robots offer a choice of 18 configurations

Epson’s new robots are designed to address demanding multi-axis applications

Epson has launched a series of high-performance, six-axis industrial robots designed to deliver high precision, short cycle times and good reliability in manufacturing and logistics applications. The CX-A robots are a significant expansion of Epson’s industrial robot portfolio, allowing system integrators and manufacturers to address demanding multi-axis applications.

The robots are available in 18 configurations, with payload options of 4kg or 7kg, and arm lengths from 600-900mm. All have the same compact footprint, simplifying integration into production lines.

Highlights of the new robots include:

  • expanded motion ranges, reducing unnecessary arm reorientation and collision risks;
  • enhanced robustness and rigidity, through redesigned robot wrists;
  • improved repeatability and path accuracy, tested to ISO 9283;
  • ISO 9409-1 standard flanges, ensuring compatibility with common end-effectors;
  • IP67 protection, as well as cleanroom and ESD variants;
  • the use of GyroPlus motion control technology, improving settling behaviour and reducing cycle times;
  • battery-less encoders, reducing cabling and simplifying installation; and
  • lower power consumption than Epson’s previous C-series models .

The robots are compatible with Epson’s RC800-A controllers and RC+ 8 software, supporting safe robot motion and advanced automation functions.

“With the CX-A series, Epson is making a clear statement in the six-axis robot market,” says Volker Spanier, head of manufacturing solutions at Epson Europe. “We have combined proven Epson precision with enhanced robustness, smarter motion control and a highly flexible system architecture. The CX-A series gives our customers and partners a powerful, future-ready automation platform.”
