SIL 2 and 3 safety system is ‘a significant step forward’

Rockwell Automation has launched a safety instrumented system (SIS) that offers SIL 2 and 3 certification, for enhanced process and hybrid safety. The Logix SIS provides all of the components needed for such systems, including process logic-solvers and I/O.
The system integrates with Rockwell’s 1756 controllers, Flex 5000 I/O and Studio 5000 Logix Designer software. It offers:
- high availability for continuous operation of critical processes;
- a streamlined implementation using familiar hardware and software;
- reduced engineering time through simplified design and configuration; and
- the ability to upgrade the SIS without needing planned downtime.
