SEW-Eurodrive appoints Andy Turner as its new UK MD

The industrial drives specialist SEW-Eurodrive UK has appointed Andy Turner as its new managing director, succeeding John Pickup, who has retired. Turner, formerly the company’s operations director, has been with the company for 17 years.
Turner joined SEW in 2008 as an external area sales manager and rose through the ranks to become operations director in April 2025. In his new role, he will be responsible for leading the company and for the performance of SEW’s UK division. This includes defining strategy in line with the group’s global objectives and overseeing operations and financial performance.
“I am proud to be taking on the role of managing director for this wonderful company that I have been a part of for 17 years,” says Turner. “I have some very big shoes to fill, but am grateful to John Pickup for his advice and guidance over the years to prepare me for this role.
“As we look ahead, I am keen to further unite our teams across our various products to ensure that we are offering the very best, holistic and effective solutions for our customers,” he adds. “We want to be the go-to industrial engineering solutions provider, and I am confident that we have the team, the products and the ambition to achieve that goal through maintaining consistent sales growth and growing our market share in automation, industrial gears and service.”
Pickup worked for SEW-Eurodrive for 31 years in various finance and management roles. He held the role of finance director before being promoted to managing director in 2022.
The UK division of SEW-Eurodrive, headquartered in Normanton, West Yorkshire, has around 160 employees at four UK locations and a turnover of £65m. Its clients include Amazon, Coca-Cola and Manchester Airport. Its 10,000ft2 (929m2) production site in Normanton holds stock, ready for assembly 24/7, 365 days per year.
German-headquartered SEW-Eurodrive has global sales of more than €4.5bn, with 22,000 employees and 17 production plants and 92 Drive Technology Centres in 56 countries.
