Routeco buys Swibox Automation to boost EMEA activities
The UK-headquartered industrial automation and controls distributor, the Routeco Group, has acquired the Swiss business Swibox Automation for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition will strengthen Routeco's presence in the EMEA region and help to meet a rising demand for industrial automation products and services across Europe. The acquisition complements Routeco’s existing European locations in the UK, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands.
Swibox Automation was previously part of the Swibox AG company which manufactures enclosures for the machine industry, supplies infrastructure for tunnels and buildings, and produces stainless-steel equipment for the medical, pharmaceutical and food industries. Swibox Automation is Rockwell Automation’s authorised distributor for Switzerland.
“Swibox Automation brings over 30 years of engineering and component distribution experience to the Routeco Group,” says Routeco Group commercial director, Keith Harrison. “It will enhance our ability to serve customers within Europe with the very best process control and automation products and packaged services.
“The integration process will take place over the coming months,” he adds. “Swibox customers will continue to receive the same high quality service which they have come to expect.”
Routeco, founded in 1978, is part of Sonepar UK. It employs more than 300 people in the UK and Europe.
