Danfoss Drives appoints Baird as UK and Ireland manager

05 March, 2018

Danfoss Drives has appointed Alan Baird as its new country manager for the UK and Ireland, following John Martin’s move to the position of head of sales. Baird will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s activities in the region, including sales, marketing, drive solutions, technical and aftermarket support.

Baird has more than 20 years of technical and commercial experience, holding senior positions with major players in the variable-speed drives and power electronics sectors, including ABB, Control Techniques, Amantys, Group Schneider, GEC and Turbo Power Systems.

“Danfoss Drives is a fantastic company,” he says. “It is a pioneer, innovator and true world-leader in variable-speed drives, with outstanding products backed by superb people. I can see many opportunities for the company to build on the huge success that it has achieved to date in the UK and Ireland. And I’m confident that my desire, experience and abilities will allow me to continue the progress of Danfoss Drives.

“There’s no doubt that my new role is challenging,” he adds, “but I am relishing the opportunity to use my experience in this competitive and dynamic drives market. I believe we have the best technology and the best people, so I’m very confident that we have a great future ahead.”

Alan Baird: many opportunities

Baird will focus particularly on developing closer relationships with system integrators, enhancing the Danfoss DrivePro service partners network, and backing Danfoss Drives’ distribution partners. He believes that the increasing importance of digitalisation, including Industry 4.0, the combined portfolio of the Danfoss VLT and Vacon brands, along with the new DrivePro service concept, will provide strong growth opportunities for Danfoss in the UK and Ireland.
