One-tool system cuts RJ-45 termination times by up to 60%

13 September, 2016

Belden has developed a “game-changing” RJ-45 connection system that, it claims, will cut termination times by up to 60%. The REVConnect system uses the same termination core for either a plug or a socket, and is suitable for all Category 5e, Category 6 and Category 6A RJ-45 connections. A single tool performs every step of the termination process, including cable preparation.

The system is said to allow reliable and easy terminations for a variety of applications from wired LANs to wireless access points, cameras and building automation sensors. The terminations provide secure, gas-tight connections that, Belden says, will reduce the need for reworking.

Users can terminate either a jack or a plug onto the same universal core. This means that field-terminable plugs, which support Cat 6A and PoE (Power-over-Ethernet), can be terminated as quickly and easily as a socket.

“Beyond pushing the limits of connectivity performance,” says Kristen Poulos, Belden’s vice-president of global marketing, “REVConnect also addresses key needs for an everyday installation – a simple, fast termination for all category cables, including UTP, shielded and Belden’s bonded-pair. The feedback from our installer and consultant communities was tremendous in shaping REVConnect.

“We feel that REVConnect is truly a game-changer,” she continues, “supporting the performance and power requirements of today and tomorrow, while offering unprecedented time savings and versatility at the job site.”

“The core interface of REVConnect is something special,” Poulos adds. “When people see it, they will see that the eight connectors supported by it today are only just the beginning. This technology – paired with Belden’s 10GXS bonded-pair cables – demonstrates Belden’s commitment to innovation and delivering high-performance products.”
