Chain-maker triples in size to meet demand

12 September, 2016

The Wolverhampton-based chain-maker Donghua has moved to new premises more than three times the size of its previous site, to meet the growing demand for its products.

The UK arm of the Chinese chain-maker Donghua – one of the world’s largest chain manufacturers – which was established in 2009, has been doubling its turnover year-on-year. It has moved to a larger building on the same industrial park, minimising disruption for its existing customers

“This move heralds a new chapter for the UK team and is a direct response to the continued interest from UK customers in our range of quality chain products,” says managing director, Bob Wellsbury. “One of our biggest strengths is that we only sell to distribution and OEMs, and do not supply direct to end-users.”

The new site includes 25,000ft2 (2,320m2) of warehouse capacity, allowing Donghua to increase its stock of standard chain and to add new product lines, such as sprockets, which have not typically been available previously.

Donghua’s larger facilities will allow it to increase stock and to lower prices

Wellsbury adds that the increased storage capacity and improved efficiencies will allow the company to cut prices and to guarantee that no other UK supplier can beat it on price with like-for-like standard roller chain.

New equipment to remove lubricants, and an etching machine for sprockets, have been added to a workshop that Donghua uses to assemble attachments and bespoke chain. Further developments are planned for 2017.
