Cabinet and wall-mounting drives span ratings up to 160kW

15 April, 2014

CG Drives & Automation – the new name for the Swedish drives-maker formerly known as Emotron – has announced a series of AC drives optimised for mounting in electrical cabinets (IP20) or on control room walls (IP21). The drives are based on the IP54-rated Emotron FDU and VFX ranges.

The robust drives are suitable for both variable-torque applications (such as pumps, fans and compressors) and fixed-torque applications (such as crushers, mills, cranes, mixers and conveyors).

The drives cover ratings from 11–160kW and offer direct torque control, with dedicated pump and fan control functions. DC chokes are built in for reduced harmonics and maximum voltage utilisation. The drives offer PLC functions including comparators and timers, and incorporate a multilingual control panel with single-function keys and copy functions. The use of speed-controlled fans is said to result in extended lifetimes. A motor load monitor is built in, as well as EMC filters and easy-access terminals

Emotron's IP20/21 drives are designed for wall and cabinet mounting

The Indian engineering group Crompton Greaves acquired Emotron for €58.7m in 2011.
