Compact control system combines relay and logic functions

07 April, 2014

Phoenix Contact has announced a programmable logic relay system that combines relay technology and logic functions in a single compact package. The modular PLC logic system is designed to provide control and switching functions for small automation tasks.

The system consists of logic modules, a PLC-Interface relay system, and an intuitive software package that needs no previous experience. To start up the system, the logic modules are simply plugged into eight relay modules.

The plug-in relays enable systems to be assembled flexibly to suit the task. The pluggable switching elements are said to ensure high machine availability because they can be replaced quickly during maintenance.

The 50mm-wide base logic module can process 16 input/output signals. This module can be expanded using up to two add-on modules for more complex applications, making it possible to process up to 48 I/O signals.
