Safety specialist moves to a larger UK HQ

10 June, 2013

The safety specialist Pilz Automation Technology has moved to new purpose-built UK headquarters in Corby, Northamptonshire. The new building, less than 1km from the site that the company occupied for the previous 21 years, has more warehousing, training and office space.

The new building, with 1,100m2 of floorspace, has been designed to be extremely energy-efficient with state-of-the-art technologies such as LED lighting controlled by occupancy sensors. A centrepiece is a spiral staircase originally used in the competitors’ village at the 2012 London Olympics.

The new building will allow Pilz to offer a broader range of products (consisting of about 430 stock items) and to do its own panel-building, which it previously sub-contracted.

According to business development manager, David Collier, engineering is now Pilz’s fastest growing service and department. The company offers electrical design and software development services and is looking to expand into new areas such as machine guarding.

The new building was opened officially last month by the parent company’s CEO, Thomas Pilz.
