Initiative aims to cut manufacturers’ energy bills

24 April, 2013

WEG Electric Motors has joined forces with Sulzer to launch an energy-reduction initiative, aimed at helping manufacturers to optimise the efficiencies of equipment in their plants.

The partners will make free assessments of equipment – including pumps, compressors, fans and conveyor belts – and outline steps that the manufacturers can take to cut their energy use and increase the efficiency and reliability of their equipment. They will offer objective advice on improving productivity while reducing energy consumption and costs.

As part of the initiative, WEG and Sulzer will install and monitor variable-speed drives at customer sites to assess potential energy savings, payback periods and total costs of ownership.

“Today there is greater pressure than ever on organisations to minimise their carbon footprint and reduce their costs and, at WEG, we’re committed to increasing energy efficiency, offering customers valuable choices on how they can best enhance their bottom line,” says Daniel Griffiths, the company’s automation product specialist.

WEG has set up a dedicated Web site where customers can register and request a booklet on the scheme, as well as finding out about the company’s energy-saving technologies.
