New manager greets a new generation of drives

14 October, 2012

The first in a new generation of AC variable speed drives from Parker Hannifin’s SSD Drives division has rolled off the production line at its Littlehampton plant. The company has also announced the appointment of Brian Hurley as its new general manager.

Hurley has been promoted from Parker’s KV (Fluidic Systems) Division, where he was general manager for four years. He has worked in the manufacturing sector for more than 30 years.

His first task has been to lay the foundations for rolling out the AC30V drive, which was announced at last year’s SPS/IPC/Drives show. The drives represent an advance in terms of design and manufacturing techniques, as well as user functions. As standard, they include Ethernet connections, a multi-language graphical keypad, safe torque-off (STO) functions to PLe Cat3 / SIL3, and IEC 61131 PLC functions.

“Many years of engineering time and significant investment have gone into developing the AC30V and this product clearly positions Parker as a major player in the global drives market,” says Hurley (shown above, with the first AC30V to roll off the production line). “I’m excited to see the levels of innovation and industry-leading features that the team has been able to deliver, and I’m looking forward to the AC30V building on the existing reputation for engineering excellence that Parker SSD Drives has in the marketplace.”
