Interest Group Sercos interface e.V, has changed its name to Sercos International to reflect the global use and acceptance of the Sercos interface.

• Schneider Electric is offering users of its Telemecanique Series 7 PLCs installed between 1984 and 1995 an upgrade path to its latest TSX57 Unity Premium range. It is offering both complete upgrades and partial upgrades where the Series 7 I/O is used with the new PLC, avoiding the need for wiring modifications. The upgrades are based on a series of structured steps including detailed analyses of the existing set-up and the requirements for the new installation.

• Deltron Emcon is offering a free on-site harmonics distortion test to help UK plants meet the G5/4 recommendations for power quality. It can also offer advice on solving a site`s problems, such as de-rating motors, installing harmonic filters, and changing overload trip settings. For details, call 07775 560529.

• Delta Tau is sponsoring a research student at Brunel University in the UK who is working on a project to develop a compact, low-cost machine tool capable of attaining a 50nm accuracy and a 5nm repeatability. The work is part of a pan-European project called Masmicro (mass-manufacturing on miniature/micro products) involving 36 organisations in 13 countries..
