Show highlights Moeller`s drive into the UK market

Moeller Electric used last month`s Drives & Controls show to boost its presence in the UK motor control market by launching new ranges of voltage/frequency inverters, open- and closed-loop vector drives, and soft-starters.

There are two families of frequency inverters: the DF5 spanning ratings from 0.18-7.5kW and operating from single-phase (230V) or three-phase (230V or 400V) supplies; and the DF6 covering the 0.75-132kW range on 400V supplies. Both have built-in PID controls.

There are also two families of vector inverters – the DV5 and DV6 – with similar power rating ranges to the DF5 and DF6. Both offer open- or closed-loop operation, starting torque levels up to 200%, and functions including auto-tuning, direct thermistor inputs, and integral PID controllers. The new drives are being made for Moeller by Hitachi.

The new soft-starts can also be split into two families. The DS4 solid-state family (above), developed by Moeller, spans starting currents from 4-45A and offers options such as internal bypass relays and reversing contactors. For heavier-duty applications, the DM4 family caters for currents up to 900A and offers functions including fieldbus interfaces and fault memories.
