IP54 drives are `the smallest`

The Finnish drives-maker Vacon has launched a range of easy-to-use open-loop drives, including IP54 models which, it claims, are the smallest on the market. The NXL drives, which are also available in IP21 versions, cover ratings up to 30kW, 400V.

Typically, just four steps will be needed to set up the drives: activating a start-up "wizard"; selecting the operating mode; tuning the nominal motor speed; and tuning the nominal current.

The drives have a modular hardware and software design that allows them to be used for a variety of applications from simple fan controls to complex machine controls using built-in PLC functions. The standard I/O can be extended using two options boards which can be used to provide more relay outputs, sensor inputs or fieldbus interfaces. Built-in RFI filters and chokes are standard.

As well as the IP54 versions, the drives are available as IP21-protected models.
