Wireless logic controller is `the first`

Elutions, the US specialist in wireless automation, has developed what it claims is the first control system that can be configured remotely using wireless communications. It says that the WLC (wireless logic controller) will simplify the development of local and wide area control systems.

The WLC incorporates a cellular data modem that can be used to transfer data to an enterprise system, as well as a Web server that allows remote access and configuration. Also built in is a soft logic engine based on CoDeSys software, that provides local control using any of the six IEC 61131-3 languages.

The WLC supports a variety of transmission systems (GSM/GPRS, CDMA or iDEN), allowing it to be used almost anywhere. It is programmed using the Supervisor software developed by the French company, Wizon, which Elutions bought last year. The WLC is the first product to combine the two companies` technologies.

The controller has up to 34 I/O on board, including four analogue inputs, 12 digital inputs, and eight digital outputs. It can operate in standalone, back-to-back or remote I/O modes, and incorporates security protocols and data encryption.
