Wolseley trio unite to form the Electric Motor Company

Three members of the Wolesley group - Totton Pumps, EMD (Halstead) and Cetronic`s dynamic control division - have joined forces to form a new business called the Electric Motor Company.

All are involved in similar manufacturing and distribution activities and are said to enjoy "significant synergy" The new venture has its headquarters in Totton, Southampton, where existing staff have been joined by key Cetronic personnel, bringing the total number of staff to more than 80.

Jerry Russell is managing director. The 120-strong workforce at the former EMD factory in Halstead Essex will stay there, making motors, gearboxes and speed controls.

Totton Pumps` traditional strengths have been in small electric motors, magnetically sealed and conventionally coupled pumps, especially for the chiller/cooler market. Cetronic`s dynamic control division has specialised in customised high-performance power and motion control equipment.
