New Wieland MD comes in from the hot

Frank Gair has been appointed managing director of Wieland Electric, following former MD Paul Jameson`s decision to leave the electrical industry to set up his own IT company. Gair, 44, joins from the German electrical distribution and network components business Ackermann, where he was managing director for East Asia operations and set up a distribution network for the Asean region, Australia and New Zealand.

Earlier in his career, Gair worked for Klockner as general manager of its Indonesian operation and then as its UK sales director.

Gair says that his long-term aim is to develop Wieland`s potential and to maximise the skills of its staff to offer "an even better quality of service" to is customers. His short-term ambition, however, is "just to survive and English winter having lived in the tropics for five years".
