Moeller Electric bucks the blues

Moeller Electric is increasing its share of the UK industrial automation market, according to its managing director, Jim Plenderleith. Although he admits that it is "tough out there", he adds that "we`re doing pretty well". Moeller`s UK sales amounted to around £50m last year.

Plenderleith does not expect much change in market conditions this year and says that if Moeller is to continue growing, "we will have to have new products and new strategies". Launches planned for 2002 include a new family of drives with which he hopes to boost the company`s share of this market, as well as new busbar and switchboard systems.

Part of Plenderleith`s strategy for continued growth is to adopt a higher profile among industrial OEMs.

Unlike many of its rivals, Moeller employs more people in the UK now - over 400 - than it did two years ago, "and we`re not talking about any redundancies," Plenderleith adds. "The future looks good for Moeller in the UK," he declares.
