Motor repairer launches its own range of motors

05 March, 2012

A Warrington servomotor repairs specialist, Neutronic Technologies, has launched its own brand of IE2 motors, with the aim of expanding later into areas such as IE3 and Atex motors.

Managing director Neil Gallant says he decided to enter the market after ten years of buying Chinese-made motors from UK sources and being disappointed with quality and service levels. Although Neutronic is also sourcing its motors from China, it is imposing strict quality guidelines and has implemented a testing procedure for every motor leaving the production line.

The company will also be offering high levels of service, with 24-hour availability including modifications and rewinds to alternative voltages.

Neutronic’s IE2 range spans ratings from 0.18–18.5kW. It is planning to extend this to include single-phase and brake motors, as well as developing an IE3 range, a cast-iron range (covering frame sizes 132–280) and an Atex range (in ratings from 0.18–90kW).

Gallant says he will be selling the motors on a combination of price, quality, added-value services and the in-house ability to modify the motors. He reports that January – when the new motors were launched – was his company’s best-ever month. Neutronic also runs an online business called Motors & Drives, which currently accounts for about 10% of its business, but is growing rapidly.
