Radicon Transmissions – formerly David Brown Radicon – has moved to new custom-designed premises in Elland, West Yorkshire, six miles from its previous site in Huddersfield. The company, which India’s Elecon Engineering Group acquired for £21.4m from Clyde Blowers in 2010, has also adopted a new branding (shown below), reflecting its move away from David Brown.

The new site is twice the size of the size of the old facility and provides a platform for Radicon to expand and to add an engineered products division that will supply bespoke systems rated up to 6,000kNm to its growing global customer base.

The move will also have benefits for Radicon’s standard products division, which specialises in industrial gearboxes, geared motors and worm gears. The larger factory will also allow the company’s service and repair division to expand further.

The recent changes are part of the continuing investment into the business by Elecon, Asia’s largest and fastest-growing gear manufacturer. Radicon and Benzlers still own the intellectual property rights to all products manufactured currently and previously, ensuring interchangeability and spares.
