Module converts servodrives into 1.5-axis controllers

Yaskawa has introduced a plug-in module which converts its Sigma-5 servodrives into 1.5-axis controllers that comply with IEC 61131-3 and PLCopen Motion. The MP2600iec module can be used for applications such as coilers, cross-cutters, flying saws, labelling and cam disks.

The controller (above) integrates motion control, PLC and drive regulation functions onto one PCB which can be used to automate entire machine subsystems. These systems receive their guide values from a master encoder and synchronise slave axes to this value. Because of their modular design, the subsystems can be tested and commissioned individually.

The MP2600iec motion module complements Yaskawa’s MP2000iec controllers and supports communication via Ethernet I/P, Modbus TCP, OPC server and Web browsers. It offers eight digital inputs, eight digital outputs, one analogue input and one analogue output. All of the I/O are freely programmable.
