Power Jacks adds Youngs to its clan

Power Jacks, the UK`s largest manufacturer of wormgear screwjacks and actuation systems, has bought the intellectual property rights of its West Midlands rival, Youngs Lifting, from the receiver.

Power Jacks intends to consolidate Youngs` range of screwjacks into its own portfolio, and to offer customers access to Youngs` other equipment including hydraulic rams and jacks, rail benders, cable drum jacks, wormgear winches, wall hoists, and other mechanical and hydraulic jacking systems.

"Although Youngs was a competitor, it`s still sad to see the demise of yet another quality British engineering company," says Power Jacks` managing director, Bruce Bultitude. "Youngs had been manufacturing lifting equipment for British industry since the 1850s. Their designs will not be lost, however, as Power Jacks is more than capable of producing their complete range of products."

Earlier this year, Power Jacks acquired Precision Actuation Systems, Fortune Engineering and Neeter Drive. The company, based in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, employs 80 people and has sales of around £7m.
