Push-in terminal blocks handle 1,700 signals per metre

20 December, 2010

Weidmüller has developed a system of multi-tier terminal blocks that can distribute more than 1,700 signals per metre of length. The PRV/PPV blocks (below) use a push-in connection technology to insert prepared conductors into terminal points to create reliable, jolt- and vibration-proof, gas-tight connections that prevent inadvertent short-circuits.

The terminal blocks are based on an unusual V-shaped busbar which compensates for the different expansion rates of copper and plastic to ensure stable low-contact resistance, even when temperatures fluctuate.

The PRV versions consist of 4-, 8- and 16-tier marshalling and distribution terminals, while the PPV family consists of 4- and 8-way power distributors. The 16-way blocks offer 64 connections per terminal.
