Compressor-maker takes up the EC Challenge

The compressor-maker CompAir has become one of the first manufacturers to support the European Commission`s new Motor Challenge Programme (MCP), aimed at promoting the use of efficient motor-driven systems in Europe.

CompAir has been accepted as an "endorser" - a supplier whose key role is to help equipment users, called "partners", which volunteer to improve the efficiency of their motor-driven systems.

CompAir says it will promote the MCP internally and in trade associations, as well as to existing and potential customers. It will also train its main distributors on the MCP Compressed Air Systems Module - a document defining the path that partner companies should follow.

Bob Cheshire, managing director of CompAir`s AirWorx division, is responsible for the company`s MCP activities. "There is a great deal of synergy between what the Commission is setting out to achieve and the direction in which CompAir has moved, both in terms of product development and in assisting our customers to achieve energy-efficient compressed air solutions," he says. "Participation in the programme is a natural progression of our business as it develops its own energy efficiency platform."

The AirWorx division, formed in 2001, specialises in assessing compressed air systems and recommending energy conservation enhancements.
