US firms form European couplings JV

30 September, 2009

The US couplings manufacturer Ruland Manufacturing has formed a European joint venture with the universal joints supplier Belden to supply couplings, drives shafts, clamps and collars to OEM customers in Germany and other European markets. The new business, PTMotion GmbH, located in Berlin, Germany, will also generate new business and manage distributor relationships. It will be run by managing director Ralf Gabriel, a long-time Belden sales engineer Germany.

Ruland Manufacturing, based in Massachusetts, produces zero-backlash motion control couplings and precision shaft collars. Belden, headquartered near Chicago, manufactures precision universal joints and power transmission assemblies. Both companies have been active in Europe for many years.
