º  SolidWorks is buying the Shropshire-based software developer, Priware, whose CircuitWorks software bridges the gap between electronic and mechanical CAD software. The acquisition will give engineers a platform to integrate mechanical and electronics designs.

º  Altra Industrial Motion has appointed Neil English as its director of European sales. English was previously sales and marketing director at Holroyd, and before that worked at Sumitomo and the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board. Altra’s portfolio includes clutches, brakes, couplings, belt drives and linear actuators, and its brands include Warner Electric, Stieber, Twiflex, Bibby Transmissions and Huco Dynatork.

º  Mitsubishi Electric has opened a branch of its Automation Systems division in Scotland, with George Paterson as its manager. The branch, in Livingstone, shares premises with Mitsubishi’s air-conditioning division.
