Dutch motor-maker Rotor acquires Exico

The Wellingborough-based motor supplier Exico has been acquired by the Dutch motor manufacturer Rotor and will now trade as Rotor (UK). The UK operation will continue to sell its existing ranges - including Siemens LV motors - and will have access to Rotor`s wider range of products, including its specialised marine motors.

Exico`s entire staff has transferred to the new business and UK customers are unlikely to notice any changes, other than the new name and the extended product range.

Rotor was founded in 1958, originally import MEZ motors Czechoslovakia into the Netherlands. It now manufactures and brand-labels standard induction motors, flameproof motors, marine motors, wormgears and other transmission components. These products will be available to UK customers on a few days` delivery.

Rotor also sells Marelli Motori flameproof motors and Rossi reducers and variators. It has yet to be decided whether Rotor will supply these ranges in the UK.

Rotor`s mechanical products have previously been available in the UK from Nottingham Electrical Transmission, which will continue to sell them.
