RS own-brand contactors offer a `value-for-money` alternative

09 November, 2007

The catalogue giant RS Components has launched its own ranges of contactors and control relays aimed at machine- and panel-builders looking for high-quality, value-for-money alternatives to more expensive brands. The products include three-pole contactors, control relays, thermal overload relays, auxiliary contact blocks, spare coils, mechanical interlocks and pneumatic timers.

The own-brand contactors and control relays have been produced to international standards, and are CE, UL and CSA approved. But they are also being promoted as cost-effective alternatives to high-profile brands which, if a problem occurs, can be replaced rather than being repaired or maintained.

"We understand from our customers that there is an increasing challenge for cost-effective, good-quality products," explains Julian Wood, RS’s market development manager for process control and automation. "The launch of the RS-branded contactors is one of the ways that we are trying to address this issue, and provide a value-for-money alternative."

The three-pole contactors are designed for 440V AC3 switching of induction motors up to 18.5kW (with one N/O auxiliary) or 22kW (with N/O and N/C auxiliaries). They can be mounted using screws or DIN rails, and allow coil connections from the top or bottom.

The RS control relays provide 440V AC1 switching (for resistive loads) of currents up to 25A. They also offer a choice between DIN rail and surface screw mounting.
