Harmonic Drive sets up UK offshoot

The German precision gear and actuator manufacturer, Harmonic Drive, has set up a UK subsidiary with the aim of improving its service to UK customers.

For many years, Harmonic Drive`s UK sales and marketing was handled by the Heason Technologies Group. Graham Mackrell, Heason`s former sales director, has been appointed sales director of Harmonic Drive UK, based at the Staffordshire Technology Park.

Harmonic says that the creation of the new subsidiary was necessitated by its continuous expansion, and by the positive business outlook in the UK. The company plans to take on staff and expand its facilities over the coming months.

Harmonic will be offering gear component sets, servo actuators, gearboxes and custom-made motion control systems. By obtaining products directly from the German manufacturing plant, the company hopes to cut delivery times, and expects to cut the prices of some ranges by about 15%.
