Brook Crompton motor centres will hold £7m of stock

Brook Crompton is trying to put its recent troubles behind it, and is setting up a network of 15 "Brook Crompton Motor Centres" around the UK and Ireland. The company, which has suffered from supply problems since moving motor production to Poland a few years ago, is emphasizing that it will hold £7m of stock at the Centres and at its Huddersfield base.

Each Centre will hold minimum stocks of W series motors up to and including 75kW, four-pole, foot-mounted models, and 37kW, two-pole foot-mounted machines.

The Centres are based on the earlier network of Drive Engineering Centres, set up seven years ago to supply Brook motors and Eurotherm drives, when both firms were part of Invensys.

Chris Lawton, Brook`s UK sales manager, acknowledges that 2004 was "a challenging year" but, he adds, "Brook Crompton is back".
