Taiwanese giant targets UK automation market

10 April, 2007

A Taiwanese conglomerate, whose product portfolio ranges from LCD TVs to car components, is hoping to make inroads into the UK industrial market with a wide-ranging family of electromechanical and automation products, including AC drives, PLCs, servo and stepper motors, servo drives, communications modules, HMIs, RFI filters, and brushless DC fans.

Delta Electronics, which employs 55,000 people and has 31 manufacturing plants worldwide, is hoping to appoint distributors to carry its automation portfolio in then UK. Although the group established a European headquarters in Amsterdam in 1987, it has had little UK presence in this sector so far.

Delta claims to be world’s leading supplier of switching power supplies and has been growing at an annual rate of around 40%. Last year achieved global sales worth $4.3bn. It has appointed a marketing manager, Carsten Schade, to spearhead the drive into the UK.
