Hoerbiger travels down the M5
Linear actuator specialist Hoerbiger-Origa has moved from its former premises in Tewkesbury to new, purpose-built UK headquarters in Gloucester. The new building (shown below) includes workshops that will be used to build bespoke rodless pneumatic cylinders, to design and manufacture multi-axis motion systems, and to perform service and repairs activities.
The move is part of a Europe-wide programme to centralise production and logistics of Hoerbiger`s standard products in Germany and Austria, and to build specialist bespoke products locally.
"In the UK, we`re getting an extra efficiency gain by moving to a new building where we have a clean sheet on which to design a new production facility," explains Hoerbiger`s UK managing director, Ray Barnes.
The centralised logistics for standard products means that "UK deliveries are at least 2-3 days quicker, because we now ship direct," Barnes adds. A new IT system means that the UK can interact with the production centre to prioritise orders and to monitor their status.
