Miniature servodrives are ‘smallest and safest on the market’

US-based Celera Motion has launched a pair of miniature servodrives that it claims are the smallest, most power-dense and safest on the market. The Denali Safe and Everest S Safe drives are aimed at applications such as humanoid robots and warehouse automation.
Celera claims that the Denali Safe is the smallest EtherCat servodrive, weighing a mere 7 grammes. It has built-in safety functions that protect both equipment and personnel. Its pluggable, modular design allows easy integration into a variety of applications. It has an efficiency of up to 98.5% and a standby power consumption down to 2.3W
Ultra-fast servo loops (update rates up to 50kHz) and PWM frequencies (up to 200kHz) allow the Denali drive to control demanding applications with extreme precision. Its high EtherCat update rates and latency down to 1 cycle help to optimise system responsiveness.
The Everest S Safe drive is aimed at higher-power applications and can provide up to 45A continuously. It offers more than 15 safety functions and is certified to SIL 3 PLe Cat3 levels, reducing time-to-market. With an efficiency of up to 99%, and a standby power consumption down to 1.7W, the drive can help to reduce heat generation in robotics. It supports control loops up to 50kHz and network rates of 4kHz with 1 cycle latency, enhancing system responsiveness.
