Binder is offering a range of M12 panel-mount connectors for automation, industrial communications and drives applications. The portfolio covers a variety of codings, connection types, materials and fastening technologies.
The connectors are designed to be used wherever signals, data or power need to be integrated safely into a device or housing. They can be used in control cabinets, sensors or drives, or in railway and building applications.
The panel-mount connectors can also be used in robots – on joints for connecting sensors, for example – in AGVs, conveyor systems and logistics systems, or for the decentralised control of lighting, air-conditioning or access.
A-coded variants are suitable for CANbus and IO-Link applications, while B-coded variants are used for Profibus and D- and X-coded panel mounts have been developed for industrial Ethernet protocols such as Profinet. K- and S-coded variants are aimed at AC applications up to 630V AC, while L- and T-coded versions are suitable for DC applications up to 63V.
As well as straight and angled versions, the variants include different connection types, from stranded wires to soldering, to versions for automated PCB assembly. Materials such as stainless steel, plastic or metal ensure design flexibility, while protection classes up to IP69K are available.
“With our M12 panel-mount portfolio, we offer a suitable solution for almost every automation application, from power supply and industrial data communications to sensor integration,” says binder product manager, Ron Hautzinger. “Our customers benefit not only from the variety, but also from the consistent quality and the ability to obtain system solutions such as pre-assembled cables or PCB assembly from a single source.
“Customers frequently focus on requirements such as high degrees of protection, vibration resistance, space-saving designs or EMC protection,” he adds. “Our panel-mount solutions specifically address these points – whether through compact designs for tight installation spaces, or shielding concepts for interference-free data transmission. At the same time, screw mounting enables simple integration into front panels or housings.”
Technical challenges when developing the connectors included efficient dissipation of heat, designing for limited installation spaces, and optimising shielding for compliance with EMC specifications.
‘”A clear trend is the demand for complete solutions,” says Hautzinger. “binder therefore offers complete system solutions in addition to the panel-mount connectors – from the PCB to the panel-mount module to customised cable assembly.” This modular approach reduces interfaces, simplifies assembly and increases operational reliability.
