Irish switchgear firm sets up Nottingham site to target datacentres

Davenham Switchgear, the Irish-headquartered manufacturer of LV (low-voltage) switchgear, is setting up a global production site in Nottingham, UK. The 100,000ft² (9,290m2) facility, at Fairham Business Park, is the Dublin-based company’s first expansion into the UK. The site, which is due to become operational later this year, will employ more than 100 people.
Davenham, which has annual revenues of around €120m, mainly in Europe and the US, was acquired last year by the French group, Legrand. The company has been operating for around 40 years in Ireland, where it employs around 350 staff. It produces motor control centres, power switchboards and distribution systems, and packaged substations.
The Nottingham facility will target the large-scale datacentre market, supporting AI and cloud computing centres for global technology giants. This segment represented around 15% of Legrand’s revenues in 2023.

Davenham plans to recruit electrical engineers, production managers, administration personnel and QHSE (quality, heath, safety and environment) specialists.
