AUTOMATION FOR MANUFACTURING

Greek-Kiwi tie-up offers micro-PLC-to-smartphone IIoT tech

DashIO is providing a smartphone interface for Erqos’ micro-PLC

The Greek IIoT controller specialist Erqos Technologies has formed a partnership with the New Zealand interface developer DashIO to simplify IIoT automation by integrating Erqos’ EQSP32 MicroPLC with DashIO’s smartphone UI platform. They say that their end-to-end technology will allow users to configure, control and monitor industrial systems either locally or remotely via the cloud.

Unlike traditional micro-PLCs that lock users into proprietary software, limited expansion and costly licensing, Erqos’ EQSP32 MicroPLC offers full programmability, MQTT and Home Assistant integration, as well as flexible I/O configurations. It allows developers and engineers to customise applications, integrate third-party technologies, and take control of their automation systems without vendor restrictions. The system is designed for both local and cloud-based automation, offering a scalable alternative to legacy PLCs.

DashIO is contributing its rapid, intuitive way for users to create and deploy dashboards on smartphones or tablets. Without having to write complex code, they can design custom interfaces with buttons, dials, graphs and other interactive UI elements, to monitor and control EQSP32-based systems.

DashIO supports multiple connection options, including Bluetooth and TCP/IP for local control, as well as MQTT for secure remote access via the cloud. This flexibility allows users to switch between on-site and remote operation, providing real-time monitoring and control from anywhere.

“By combining the openness and versatility of the EQSP32 with DashIO’s seamless connectivity and intuitive user interface, we are providing automation engineers with a truly flexible and powerful industrial IoT solution,” says Erqos Technologies’ chief technology officer, Ermis Stouraitis. “This partnership eliminates the complexity of connecting industrial automation to the cloud and makes real-time control and monitoring more accessible than ever.”

“DashIO was designed to simplify IoT device interaction, and this partnership extends our reach into industrial automation,” adds DashIO’s founder, Craig Tufnell. “With direct Bluetooth and TCP/IP connections for local control and secure MQTT cloud integration for remote access, DashIO ensures that EQSP32 users have the best of both worlds – instant, low-latency interaction when on-site and reliable, global connectivity, with intuitive user interfaces, when needed.”
