German motor-maker opens new headquarters near Berlin

The German electric motor manufacturer Menzel Elektromotoren has opened new headquarters in Hennigsdor, near Berlin, where it will be able to build motors with outputs to 25MW and above. The new site, which includes 6,416m² of manufacturing floorspace and 2,096m² of office space, currently employs almost 100 people (with a combined 933 years of experience at the company), and has the capacity to expand to 150 employees.
The company’s output has been growing in recent years and needed more space and modern, efficient production facilities to allow it to produce larger, heavier machines. The site incorporates advanced machinery, paint shops and test fields that can accommodate the largest motor configurations.
Menzel produces series motors as well as custom models and replicas of existing machines. It stocks variants up to 15MW that can be adapted at short notice to suit specific applications. The company also tests motors, generators and rotary converter sets.
The new facility has been built on a 22,928m² plot, of which about 4,000m² has been earmarked for further expansion.
