Free online tool helps to prepare for Industry 4.0

Festo's online tool helps to assess companies' readiness for Industry 4.0

Festo has developed an free online tool that helps companies to assess their readiness for adopting Industry 4.0. Called Industry 4.0 Quick Check, it enables them to identify their current “maturity level” and what their next development and training priorities should be.

The tool is based on Festo’s experience in adopting Industry 4.0 at its own manufacturing sites, and delivering workshops for third parties. It “makes it much easier to find answers by guiding the user through a set of questions about their business priorities,” explains Festo’s learning and development consultant in the UK, Neil Lewin. “It then immediately delivers a report by email containing recommendations on how they can move forward on their Industry 4.0 journey.”

Users are prompted to choose three targets for which they would like to receive initial recommendations for action. The tool then asks 15 questions covering various aspects of their business, including: data collection and processing, networking and integration; strategy and processes; and employees and culture.

The software analyses the results to assign a maturity level. It presents the evaluation and the recommendations for action both graphically and in a summary report.

“Industry 4.0 Quick Check provides an easy to use, accessible and free of charge self-assessment of a company’s Industry 4.0 status,” says Lewin. “It provides a clear visualisation which can help guide the user to their priorities.”
