Magazine will be the UK’s first dedicated to smart manufacturing

08 August, 2016

DFA Media, the publisher of Drives & Controls, is launching the UK’s first magazine dedicated to the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0), the Industrial Internet of Things, and the transformation to the era of “smart” manufacturing.

The bi-monthly publication, called Smart Machines & Factories, will make its debut in November, 2016. It will cover issues such as advanced automation, digitally networked production, smart energy technologies, advanced design methods, predictive maintenance, IT security, novel production processes including 3D printing, and robotics.

“No other UK publication will provide such comprehensive information and in-depth insights into tomorrow’s integrated factories,” says DFA Media’s managing director, Ian Atkinson.

The magazine will also have an associated Web site that will carry the latest news from this fast-moving sector, while a dedicated exhibition, also called Smart Machines & Factories, will make its debut alongside the Drives & Controls Show at the Birmingham NEC in April, 2018.

Aaron Blutstein has been appointed as editor of Smart Machines & Factories. He has more than 15 years of industrial technology journalism experience. He will continue to edit the new magazine’s sister publication, Plant & Works Engineering.
