Monitoring system depicts production data in real time

09 June, 2016

Bosch Rexroth has developed a communication platform that continuously records, processes and filters production data and makes it available on the production line and elsewhere in real time via large touchscreens or tablets.

The Active Cockpit system allows workers to identify and correct production errors and to check and control the availability of stations. They can also track production times and quantities, as well as quality data.

Another possibility is to photograph faulty parts using a tablet and to share the photos with colleagues. The images can be evaluated collectively via interactive displays.

Rexroth says that the system will speed up decision-making and cut downtime. It adds that because the software can link production and IT, it will enable networked assembly in accordance with Industry 4.0.

At Hannover, Bosch Rexroth had five intelligent, networked stations showing: how Active Cockpit can link autonomous production lines with manual assembly stations; how production network functions can interact with company IT systems; and how existing machinery can be connected easily.

The Bosch Group is using the Active Cockpit system in about 20 of its plants.
