Martin will drive Danfoss’ integration with Vacon in the UK
John Martin, sales director for Danfoss’ drives business in the UK, has been appointed country manager of Danfoss Drives UK, the new business that combines the activities of Danfoss and Vacon. He will oversee the merger of the Danfoss and Vacon operations to create what is expected to be the UK’s largest dedicated drives team.
“Combining the Danfoss and Vacon businesses in the UK will undoubtedly be challenging,” says Martin, “but it’s a challenge I’m really looking forward to, particularly as I can see that it also creates an incredible opportunity to establish Danfoss Drives UK as the undisputed leader in the UK drives sector.
“Currently, I’m fortunate enough to have two strong teams,” he adds, “and my key objective is to develop individual staff competencies so that I create one even stronger team that will make it possible for us to achieve our ambitious objectives.”
Among the goals that Martin has set for the new organisation are to become a preferred VSD supplier for major organisations by delivering value, and to supply systems for applications ranging from simple and cost-sensitive, to complex and demanding.
Martin joined Danfoss in 1995, initially working as HVAC manager for Ireland and Scotland. He was appointed UK sales director in 2009. During his time with Danfoss, he has contributed to a 300% growth in sales, and to raising sales to the HVAC sector to half of Danfoss’ UK business.
