Smart camera in a vision sensor format ‘sets new standard’

04 November, 2014

Datalogic has announced a smart camera which, it claims, sets a new standard in machine vision by providing advanced smart camera functions in an embedded vision sensor form factor. The modular P-Series camera uses interchangeable embedded lenses and illuminators that can be mounted and replaced in the field.

The camera is designed to tackle machine vision applications where ease-of-use, compactness and price/performance ratio are important criteria.

There is a choice of lenses in five focal lengths and seven lighting options, resulting in 70 different possible combinations. This is said to result in superior image acquisition capabilities and installation flexibility.

Datalogic predicts that the combination of a powerful, user-friendly interface and robust software tools will change the way engineers, from beginners to experts, look at machine vision.
